The system handles media rolls from 11” to 36” / 297 mm to 914 mm wide and provides ultra fast switching between rolls for collated sets of varying sizes or media types with no delay between prints

In addition, an integrated automatic cut sheet feeder provides expanded versatility for handling specialty media types. Hudson County Bar Company Golf Outing 2015

Event Summary

Document Solutions has been a proud sponsor of the Hudson County Bar for the past five years. We often find ourselves putting a lot of effort into our event planning so these events run as smooth as possible. We participate in these events to potentially gain business with companies to offer our award winning services as well as our new line of products, such as the KIP 940 Color System. (A technical color wide format system with the new KIP System K software platform).

With the help of Document Solutions Business Life Simplified, attendants of the event were able to enjoy a stress free day of golfing while we offered them free cigars. Our goal of attending these events is to create a community brand name behind our company and that is what we feel happens with events such as these.

The day was an overall success, with Document Solutions meeting many friendly faces and having a relaxing day. The most memorable occurrence during the event was the 18th hole, with excited golfers lined up to win a chance at $10,000 simply for being able to get a hole in 1. It generated a lot of excitement and created a real challenge for all, although no one was able to achieved this ludicrous shot.

Overall, Document Solutions Business Life Simplified was excited to establish a lot of business to business (BTB) connections and is very excited for the event next year!

Windows 2003 Server – Rapidly Approaching End of Life

You may remember the buzz last year when Microsoft pulled the plug on its support of Windows XP. Less publicized, but perhaps even more critical, is the end of support for Microsoft Windows Server 2003. That is scheduled for July 14, 2015.  Many businesses may be unaware, but there’s a good chance their most important computers are running on this soon-to-be-outdated operating system. They may be equally unaware that hanging on to Windows Server 2003 after Microsoft ends support in July will cost them plenty and could put their business at risk.
The Price of Inactivity
If you elect to remain using Windows Server 2003 after support ends, you might see a costly impact on your organization’s bottom line. There are a number of good reasons not to be running a defunct operating system once support has ended.
Compliance – Depending on the nature of your business, you may be under legal obligation to meet industry-wide compliance standards and regulations. After Windows Server 2003 support ceases, your organization will likely fail to meet these requirements. This could generate an increase in operating costs due to penalties and high transaction fees. It could potentially result in lost customers too.
Security – When bug fixes and security patches stop being applied to Windows Server 2003, your system will be exposed to security threats as new vulnerabilities go without being addressed. To continue operating an unsupported system, you will need to spend considerable sums on advanced firewalls, intrusion detection systems and other expensive security measures.
Maintenance Costs  – In addition to the cost of protecting unsupported servers, your business will have to shoulder the increasing costs of hardware maintenance. Some estimates place the cost of custom support for servers running Windows Server 2003 after July 2015 in the region of $1,500 per server, per year.
Hardware/Software Compatibility – New software releases and hardware devices that arrive after Windows Server 2003 support has ended are unlikely to be compatible with the retired platform. If you continue to run with Windows Server 2003, future applications will be off limits to your business and you won’t be able to take advantage of many new hardware developments either.
Where Do You Go From Here?
There’s little benefit to be had from holding on to legacy servers. Now is the time to get busy with your migration strategy. Fortunately, a number of options exist for organizations looking to transition their data from Windows Server 2003, including upgrading to a newer, supported version of Windows Server such as 2008 or 2012, or migrating your data to a cloud-based platform.
Transitioning to the Cloud
One great advantage of cloud computing is that you can quickly, easily and inexpensively get access to the resources and data storage volumes that you need, when you need them. The price of business success can sometimes be higher than anticipated, especially if you outgrow your on-premises hardware capabilities. When you put your data in the cloud, scaling up generally entails little more than an incremental increase in hosting fees, sparing your capital expenditure budget.
Add the peace of mind that comes with multiple layers of world-class security (cloud providers’ existence depends on affording customers the best in data protection) and it’s not so hard to see why the demise of Windows Server 2003 is, for many enterprises, an opportunity to switch from on-premises to hosted cloud computing solutions.
Document Solutions has helped clients transition safely from Windows Server 2003. Whether your company is looking to upgrade its onsite servers or migrate data to a cloud-based platform, we can guide you to the best solution that suits your specific needs. Contact our IT Department (E-mail: IT@DSBLS.COM Phone: (908) 653-0600 Option #7) and learn what your business can do to prepare for Windows Server 2003’s end of support.

Security Update for Internet Explorer

Due to the recent security vulnerability that affects all versions of Internet Explorer, Microsoft has released an emergency patch that addresses the issue.  In a surprising move, Microsoft has issued a security update for Windows XP users despite ceasing to support XP last month.  The recent attacks through I E prompted the action and most Windows users will not need to take any action as they have automatic updates enabled and the protections will be installed and protected automatically.  If unsure, anyone using Internet Explorer versions 7 through 11 should run Windows Update immediately to obtain the patch.  The link is .  Microsoft encourages customers to upgrade to the latest version of I E.

Microsoft Security Advisory

Since Microsoft no longer supports Window XP operating systems, they have announced that Internet Explorer versions 6 through 11 were at risk of attacks from programs that could install viruses, delete data and a perform a host of other malevolent cyber-attacks.  All of this can be accomplished by merely clicking on a link that is not protected from this zero-day vulnerability.  Once the hacker executes a successful attack the hacker would acquire the same user rights as the current user.

There are a variety of steps that can be taken to protect from becoming exposed.  One method is to avoid any questionable sites until a patch becomes available.  Another is to not use Internet Explorer and substitute Web Browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.  Certainly it is crucial to avoid opening any unfamiliar emails until an effective patch is released or an emergency stopgap can be implemented.  Additionally, All Covered’s Patch Management service is a subscription service that will continue to monitor the situation and schedule deployment of the patch upon its release.

Career Fair News!

Document Solutions once again participated in the 35th Annual Spring Diversity Career Fair Day on Wednesday,  April 23, 2014 at the Rutgers-Newark Campus.   Attending the event this year were Kevin O’Connor, V. P. Sales, Kevin Roth, V. P. Operations, and Carl Neil-Holman, Marketing Director.  The Newark Campus had its customary healthy turnout and spirited interest.

At the Rutgers-Newark Fair the Document Solutions table was alive with activity, as there were over 50 inquiries.  Some inquiries were for Internship, some were for Part-Time or Summer employment and still others were looking for Career opportunities in the rapidly growing and evolving Company.  Document Solutions actively sought candidates for 7 different job titles, and the wide ranging diversity of majors that the students were pursuing lent itself to creating “favorable matches.”  With a Fun and Youth-Oriented approach including Document Solutions’ “ Harlem Shake Compilation” (over 120,000 views) and Girl Scout videos, the reaction was decidedly positive.

Supplementing the event is the upcoming New Jersey Statewide Career and Internship Fair on Friday, May 2, 2014.  This event will be held at the Rutgers-New Brunswick Campus.  Document Solutions expects another successful Career Fair and looks forward to seeing both new and familiar faces.
